Specification depth that protects the AHJ submittal
Every fire-rated door we deliver includes the ULC label showing rating, manufacturer, and listing number; the NFPA 80 manufacturer's installation instructions; the frame anchorage detail (for masonry, drywall, or steel-stud assemblies); and the complete hardware schedule with each component's listing. Doors arrive on site pre-machined for the listed hardware — closer prep, panic prep, electric-hinge prep, viewer prep — so field modifications that void the rating never happen.
Annual NFPA 80 inspection
Once installed, fire doors must be inspected annually by a qualified person per NFPA 80 §5.2. This is mandatory under every Canadian provincial fire code. Our certified inspectors verify label and rating present and legible, frame anchored and undamaged, hinges secured (no missing screws), latching hardware operational, gaskets and intumescent seals in place, glazing intact and rated, self-closing devices working, and drop testing on rolling fire shutters per manufacturer instruction. Findings are documented in writing and any deficiency corrected immediately. Insurance carriers and AHJs routinely audit these records — a missed inspection is a code violation and an insurance gap.
