What schools need
- Fire-rated hollow metal classroom doors with panic exit hardware on egress — typically 20- or 45-minute ratings per OBC 3.4
- Acoustic-rated doors STC 45-55 between gyms and classrooms, between music rooms and corridors
- ADA-compliant low-energy operators on accessible main and secondary entrances
- Rolling security shutters at cafeterias, computer labs, library, and main lobbies for after-hours
- Coiling fire counter shutters at student-services counters where required
- Hollow metal Dutch doors at administrative reception
- Glass-clad polycarbonate vision lites at classroom doors for security review
- Storefront entrances at main-school entries with vestibule + air curtain for energy code
After-hours security and access control
Modern schools need to balance welcoming daytime access with secure after-hours operation. Card-access systems (HID, Schlage AD) integrated at main entries; rolling security shutters at high-value spaces (computer labs, cafeteria); vandal-resistant hardware at vulnerable openings; classroom door lockdown hardware (Schlage CO-series, ASSA ABLOY Aperio) for emergency lockdown protocols. We provide vendor-neutral access-control integration with the school board's existing system.
